The following information identifies and locates accessible services for travelers with disabilities at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). If you require assistance and are not accompanied at the airport, please contact your airline for additional services.
Southwest Florida International Airport does not discriminate on the basis of disability in administration of its aviation-related programs and activities by complying with federal and state laws and regulations (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Florida Americans with Disability Accessibility Requirements found in Section 503 of the Florida Statues).
Wheelchair service is provided by airline-contracted skycap service providers. To ensure availability and timely service, it is strongly recommended to request this service in advance through your airline. Wheelchair service may be requested from the airline at the ticket counter or curbside counters on the day of travel as well.
Parking for passengers with disabilities is available 24 hours a day in all airport parking areas - Short-term Parking (garage) and Long-term Parking.
Upon entering Short-term Parking (garage), please follow standard signage symbols for designated disabled parking spaces located adjacent to elevators and walkways to the terminal. Push-button emergency call boxes are located throughout the parking facilities for immediate assistance.
If parking in Long-term, there is complimentary door-to-door shuttle service for passengers and luggage between your car and the terminal curb. The shuttle driver will assist you with your luggage. Handicap accessible shuttle buses are available; please notify the parking attendant as you enter the Long-term Parking Lot of your accessibility needs.
Elevators are located on the northeast and northwest sides of the parking garage on all three levels. Elevators are also available throughout the terminal to gain access to the Ticketing Lobby, Baggage Claim, Gates D-9A and D-9B and U.S. Customs facilities. Please see the Terminal Directory.
Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is proud to be a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program. This program is designed to discreetly allow travelers to let others know they have a non-visible disability. The Sunflower symbol, printed on a lanyard, badge, hat, wrist bracelet, pin or other branded item, indicates that a person may need more assistance, extra time or patience.
How does it work? The program is voluntary and any traveler that feels they have a hidden disability can request a free Sunflower lanyard/badge at the Visitor Information booths located in the East and West Atriums or Bag Claim from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more, click here.
All public restrooms, including “Companion Care,” throughout the terminal are wheelchair accessibly.
Taxis: The airport’s on-demand taxi fleet currently has two ADA lift-equipped vehicles. Please contact MBA at 239-225-0428 in advance of your arrival time to ensure they are aware of your accessibility needs.
Car Rentals: All on-airport rental car check-in areas contain an ADA counter and vehicles are easily accessible. Please check with your rental car company for further assistance.
Public Transportation: All of LeeTran’s full-sized buses provide accessibility for persons with disabilities. The LeeTran bus stop is located across from Door 2 on the “Arrivals Level” in the Commercial Lane and is appropriately marked. At Southwest Florida International Airport, Animal Relief Areas are located in the “grassy areas” at both ends of the terminal building on the lower level, adjacent to Doors 1 and 6, near the gazebo and loading dock, or across the street from baggage claim on the lower level near the parking garage. Please see the Arrivals & Baggage Claim Directory. We encourage all pet owners to use the animal relief areas before going through security screening checkpoints due to the lack of pet relief areas inside the concourses. Disposable bags and trash cans are available for your use. Please keep your pet leashed at all times while on airport property.

Security measures at RSW restrict public access beyond the security checkpoints to ticketed passengers only. However, airlines may grant permission for persons with special needs to be accompanied by a heath care assistant or guardian. If someone wishes to accompany a special needs person to or from an aircraft gate, they must obtain permission from the airline and obtain a gate pass.
